Essential Oils and the Brain

Essential Oils are lipophilic volatile aromatic metabolites in plants consisting of natural chemical constituents from bark, stems, roots, flowers, seeds and fruits.

Essential Oils' chemistry are blocks of hydrogen, carbon and oxygen molecules which is the same as the human body, and their unique complex chemical structure allows them to act directly and indirectly within our cells and our brain, and some essential oil compounds closely resemble human atoms which allow them to aide in certain biological functions.

Chemical structures in plants mimic certain structures in our body which allows them to help our body i.e. hormones is a major one.

Inhalation - essential oils go directly to the brain through the olfactory nerve to the limbic system - their electronic signalling influences neurotransmitter alteration as well as modulation, excitability and neuron stimulation and causes apoptosis, neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, and modulates neuro-inflammation.

Diffuse - Inhale and apply to pulse points (back of neck at base of skull, big toe, both sides of neck - get them in the brain.

Beneficial to use in mental health therapy, any kind of therapy as well as coaching as it helps people make shifts because the chemical compounds helps make those shifts.
You still have to make decisions (cognitive/therapy work).
Essential oils help the brain process emotions = unmasking emotions.
This helps us process instead of being stuck in certain parts of our brain or in our memory.
Some essential oils permeate the blood brain barrier allowing to affect conscious thought.
